Report of the President

Rescue has been very busy. Joanne and I have a ten year old female that we picked up and we are keeping her. The seven year old male that was her companion was transferred to Fairfield Shelter and to the Vacaville SPCA. The Vacaville SPCA will not release him to us because they want to adopt him out themselves. He has been there three and a half weeks and has just been neutered. They also docked his tail because he broke it while in the shelter. I have been trying to get a hold of the person who wanted to adopt him. I have not been able to get a hold of her yet. If she still wants to adopt him, we will figure out a way to get him. The SPCA told me they have plenty of homes to adopt him. Toni’s response was if there are so many homes then why has he been there for three and a half weeks?

We also rescued a dog down in San Diego. We had another dog that we found an immediate home for.

Oregon Specialty

If anyone brought basket donations Joanne and I will take them. Otherwise, If you are not going, you can give your donations to Margo Lauritsen or Jann Lanz and they will take them up for you. We have a great basket. I found a dog bed basket and it’s really nice and we would like to get it filled up. We would like wine or products made in California such as nuts, raisins, candy or something similar.

At the Oregon Specialty, the MCOA Rescue Foundation is thinking of updating their Logo. There will be a Logo Contest. So I took a head from our Logo and made a little graph for a logo and put it on a compass. So I thought I would submit that in the contest.

We are NOT doing a potluck on Wednesday because CEMC has something going on at the hotel. So we have just put in a donation to co-host the event on Sunday night.

REMC Specialty

Ours closes on Wednesday. Nancy and I will be stuffing envelopes and they will be going out probably next Saturday. I’ll be working on proof reading the catalog. We have no ads for the catalog. We are updating the catalog and it will be spiral bound. I’ve gotten about ten pre-orders for catalogs, so if anyone wants to pre-order they need to get me a check. I will put your name on a catalog and when you come it will be right there with your name on it.

We have J. Dietz who will be our ring steward. She will come in early so we will pay one night for a hotel room. The announcer will be Dave Hussey. It’s great because they are well versed in it because they both work with the MCOA. Nancy, Joanne and I will be driving up on Saturday. We will be there Saturday afternoon or early evening.

I want to thank everyone for donations. We got enough in for trophy donations to cover the trophies and the ribbons. I am not sure yet what the entry is but even if it is small, we will break even on that part. We received a donation of a Danny Quest statue named “Best Friend” and we put it on a piece of Burl Wood. It turned out very nice. It will be given for the Best of Breed winner, but will stay with the club. The winner’s name will be inscribed.

REMC Specialty October 2010

Our Judge for the October Specialty will be Mary Speer.
Our Sweepstakes Judge will be Diane Collings.

Report of the Treasurer

Chuck said the checking account $2,639.00
Savings Fund: $3,375.00*
Total Both Accounts: $6,014.52

*the savings account is now known as the Rescue Fund Account.

The total in both accounts doesn’t sound bad, but most of the money is Rescue monies. Plus the money coming in will be paid out once the expenditures for the National Specialties come in.

The President reported that we have another $500.00 coming out of the Rescue Account for a dog that Rescue picked up. He needed an Echo Cardiogram. He has Cardiomyopathy. We did find a home for him but we did not ask for a fee for him because the adopters will have a lifetime of medical costs for him. He’s a very young dog and very sweet. We will also be putting in a request to RFI because they have a Special Needs Fund and that will help a little bit.

Motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report: Diane Collings 1st, Joanne Williams 2nd.

All those in favor: All ayes.
